Why aren't my Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Google +) streams showing in my app? Print

First, if you are using the Social Media module, confirm that you have ONLY entered the 'username' from your url.  You do not need the rest of the url.

  • Ex. Facebook.com/Username
If your Facebook Page url isn't working you might have to disable some of your privacy settings in your Facebook settings so that it can be displayed.

For example, if you receive a "syndication error" while trying to use Facebook, it is because the Facebook Page does not have status updates that are public.
  • Make those public and you will be good to go.

If your Facebook feed is not displaying at all.

The best way to show you what's going on is for you to follow the below steps:

1. Log out of your Facebook account.

2.  Go to your Facebook url:  http://www.facebook.com/Username

3.  If it does not pull up your Facebook page or you can't see your status update, you still have privacy settings that need to be changed.  This means that your page is restricting access to those who do not have a Facebook account.  The Mobile App space is considered public space (because anyone can download your app).  So Facebook will not syndicate your feed 'publicly' if your privacy settings are in some way restricting that access.

4. Once you've made the changes, log back out of your Facebook account and see if you can load your page and status updates without being logged in.

5.  Once you get these settings adjusted and your can view your status without being logged in, you're good to go and the app will syndicate your feed! :)

Because of Twitter's API changes, Twitter will no longer work in the Social Media module!
