Get rid of as many "Links" as possible. Print

One of the major trends of 2013 was to move away from using a bunch of web links for your app and moving to more visually appealing graphics!  This will be something that you will want to consider when we are trying to get any updates pushed through to Apple.

You have a handful of different options to get the same "links" content into the app without just linking to it in the CMS.

1. Views - You can create text pages with all the info you want using the "Views" module in the CMS. This module has the "kitchen sink" which allows you to edit and create the HTML the way you desire for the app.

2. Graphics - You can create graphics for the app that mirror your website but allow more native functionality over the standard web view.

Example: If you have a link that you want to change, a recommended graphic way to fix this in a way that Apple will approve is to follow these steps:

First, create graphic images sized 1280 x 1468 (Portrait) and a version that is 1468 x 1280 (Landscape) with all the info for each of the pages or announcements that you want to include. (If you want to link the image to something else in the app, include something like "tap for more information" somewhere on the page so people know that they can tap on the image to get more info.)

Second, Add a new "Slider" in the CMS. Click Add Row and upload the first image. Click Add Row again and upload the second image, and so on until all your images are added.

Third, place the slider menu where you want it.

(Note 1: When you create these images it's smart to overlay arrows or navigation dots on the image somewhere so users can intuit there is more information to the left or right)

3. HTML PAGE - Create your own hidden HTML page on your website that is mobile friendly and can only be accessed via the URL. Then use the "Links" module to link to that page. If you do this just be sure that there is no way to link back to your main website and also make sure that there is no way to receive or give donations on this html page.

4. External Links to these pages - If you don't want to go with any of these other options you can always use the "Online Giving" Module (which is simply and external link module to link to these pages. Apple doesn't love this to be used with lots of content but it's an option. We normally recommend doing the work of creating graphics, using sliders as the first option because the swiping action on the sliders is a feature apple likes in apps and will give you the best chance at a timely approval.

If you want us to arrange everything for you that is super easy and no problem we will just need you to submit all of the graphics to us and we can get them all plugged in.

If you need graphic design help we have a group of contract graphic designers that can help you with your design needs.  Email support@bridgeelement.com with a subject line of "Graphic Design Quote" to get more info on a graphic design
